Get help

Whether you are in a difficult situation yourself or worried about someone else, you can talk to us. You do not have to give your name.

If someone is in danger now

Call the emergency number straight away. Tell them where you are and that a person is being held, hurt or moved against their will.

If it is not an emergency

Tell us what you know. A trained case worker reads every report. You can:

Emergency 911

Free to call from any phone in Liberia.

How to recognise trafficking

Trafficking means moving, recruiting or holding a person by force, fraud or deception in order to exploit them. It can happen inside Liberia, without crossing any border.

At work

Long hours for little or no pay. Wages held back “to pay a debt”. The person cannot quit, or their documents are kept by the employer.

Children

A child sent to live with a relative or “guardian” in town but made to sell goods, do housework or work in mines instead of going to school.

Job and travel offers

Offers of well-paid work abroad, often in the Gulf, with travel paid by an agent. The job described is not the job that waits at the other end.

Online

Messages promising jobs, scholarships or relationships that ask for money, passport photos or travel to meet. Some scam centres hold the people forced to run them.

Sexual exploitation

A woman or girl controlled by someone who takes her money, arranges her “clients”, or threatens her family.

Behaviour

The person seems afraid, is never alone, lets someone else answer for them, or does not know the address where they live.

What happens when you report

A case worker reviews your report, usually within one working day. Reports involving a child or immediate danger are reviewed first. If you left a way to reach you, we may contact you to ask a few more questions. We will never share your name with the person you are reporting.

Staying safe online

If someone may check your phone or computer, use a private or incognito window, and clear your browsing history afterwards.
