Liberia Anti-Trafficking and Scam Victim Support Initiative Appeals for Assistance for Stranded Sierra Leonean Victims
The Liberia Anti-Trafficking and Scam Victim Support Initiative continues to engage the public, the Government of Liberia, and international partners in its efforts to combat human trafficking and online scams across the country.
Through intelligence gathering and close collaboration with the Liberia National Police (LNP), the Initiative recently supported operations that led to the arrest of individuals allegedly involved in human trafficking activities. During the operation, authorities discovered more than 55 Sierra Leonean nationals who had been brought into Liberia under false promises and deceptive travel arrangements.
The victims are currently stranded in Liberia and have expressed their desire to return safely to Sierra Leone. They require urgent humanitarian assistance, including shelter, food, medical care, and transportation to facilitate their safe repatriation.
The Management of the Liberia Anti-Trafficking and Scam Victim Support Initiative is appealing to the Government of Liberia, international organizations, humanitarian agencies, development partners, and well-meaning citizens to support this critical humanitarian response. Their assistance will help ensure that the victims receive the protection, care, and support they urgently need.
The Initiative remains committed to fighting human trafficking and protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation. As efforts continue, the public will be kept informed through regular updates on the condition of the victims, the progress of ongoing investigations, and measures being taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
