Every figure on this map is a person.
LATVSI tracks trafficking and exploitation across Liberia's 15 counties, so survivors are found, protected and supported, and the people who exploit them are held to account.
County returns, All records. 0 of 15 counties reporting.
Lines show the countries LATVSI monitors as trafficking origins and destinations. Hover or tab through a county for its figures.
Where victims were identified
Each county submits a monthly return of the victims it has identified, split by sex. Montserrado, home to Monrovia, reports the most, but no county is untouched.
More than half are women and girls
Traffickers in Liberia target people looking for work, school or a way out of poverty. Women and girls are recruited most often, many through promises of jobs in Monrovia or abroad.
Each figure stands for 10 people.
What happens after a report
Every report is logged, assessed and followed through. Survivors decide what support they accept, and their identity is never published.
Report
A community member, partner or the survivor contacts us by phone or through this website.
Assess and protect
A case worker assesses the risk. Anyone in immediate danger is moved to safety first.
Refer
Survivors are linked to shelter, medical care, counselling and legal aid through partner services.
Pursue justice
With the survivor's consent, evidence is passed to law enforcement and the case is tracked to court.
Reintegrate
Follow-up continues until the survivor is safely back with family, in school or in work.
Know the signs
Trafficking is often hidden in plain sight. Someone may need help if they:
- do not hold their own ID or passport
- owe a debt to an employer they can never pay off
- cannot leave their job or home freely
- were promised one job and made to do another
- are a child working instead of going to school
- seem afraid to speak in front of the person with them
If it is not an emergency, you can report a concern online. You do not have to give your name.
