LATSVSI TO JOIN LNP INVESTIGATION INTO ALLEGED $9,000 QNET SCAM INVOLVING LIBERIAN POLICE OFFICER AND SIERRA LEONEAN NATIONALS
MONROVIA, LIBERIA — The Liberia Anti-Trafficking and Scam Victims Support Initiative [LATSVSI] will today participate in an official investigation at the Liberia National Police [LNP] Headquarters into allegations of fraud involving a serving police officer.
According to a complaint received at the LATSVSI office on 14th Street, Gibson Avenue, last week, the officer, who is alleged to be affiliated with QNET, is accused of collecting over USD $9,000 from five Sierra Leonean nationals under the false pretense of facilitating business opportunities and travel to Canada.
The case file was formally transferred to the LNP Headquarters for criminal investigation and prosecution.
The investigation is scheduled to commence today at 11:00 AM in the office of ACP Samuel Ford, Head of the LNP Community Police Services.
LATSVSI condemns all forms of transnational fraud and the exploitation of vulnerable migrants by individuals in positions of trust. The organization is committed to supporting victims, ensuring accountability, and working with the LNP and judicial authorities to bring perpetrators to justice.
“No one is above the law. We welcome the LNP’s swift action and will continue to monitor this case to ensure transparency and justice for the victims,” said Zokerseh B. Saye, Executive Director of LATSVSI.
